Project overview

Ceylon Fusion is a lightweight, mobile-first Next.js website for a Sri Lankan food truck operating in Germany. The site pulls live data from ZestyPOS to display the menu (items, prices, availability) and the current/next location & hours, so customers always see up-to-date information. It includes multilingual support (English and German) with clean navigation, fast load times, and SEO-friendly markup.

The challenge of project

Food trucks change menus, prices, and stops frequently. We needed:

  1. A fast, responsive site that works great on phones (most visitors are on mobile).
  2. Real-time data for menu and location without manual edits.
  3. Bilingual content (EN/DE) for local customers and the Sri Lankan community abroad.
  4. Searchable, indexable pages that support local SEO (maps, hours, cuisine keywords).

What We Built

  1. Menu sync from ZestyPOS (categories, items, prices, and “out of stock” flags).
  2. Location & schedule pulled from ZestyPOS (current stop, hours, special events).
  3. “Today’s specials” and badge highlights (spicy/veg/halal) from item metadata.
  4. Minimal content snippets (About, Hero, CTA) stored as simple blocks for quick tweaks.
  1. Clear content map (Hero, Menu, Locations, About, Contact).
  2. Low-friction updates: edit in ZestyPOS → site reflects changes automatically.
  3. Basic inquiry events (link tap tracking) ready for analytics dashboards.
  1. Secure API key/token for ZestyPOS requests (server-side only).
  2. Input validation, rate limiting on dynamic endpoints, sanitized payloads.
  3. No sensitive data stored on the site; privacy-first approach.
  1. Next.js ISR/SSR for fresh data with great performance.
  2. Optimized images, lazy loading, semantic HTML → strong Core Web Vitals.
  3. SEO: localized meta tags, structured headings, Open Graph, cuisine/location keywords.
  4. Optional GA4/analytics ready (events: menu view, location click, call-to-action).
  1. Next.js i18n routing (/en, /de) with locale switcher.
  2. Translated navigation, headings, meta tags, and structured data.
  3. Localized currency & formatting (EUR), date/time per locale conventions.
  4. SEO: separate sitemaps per locale and hreflang annotations.

Key Integrations

  1. ZestyPOS API: Menu (items, availability, pricing) and location/schedule.
  2. Map embedding to show current stop with one-tap directions.
  3. Contact actions: call, WhatsApp, and social links; optional simple contact form.

Final Results

  1. Customers see live menus and locations without the team touching the website.
  2. Faster decision-making for visitors (what’s available, where to find the truck, when it’s open).
  3. Bilingual reach boosts local discoverability and community engagement.
  4. A fast, polished, SEO-friendly site that supports foot traffic and repeat visits.
